Update 03/08/19 - The filament-guide dimensions have been resized for smoother gliding over the filament-guide-holder. Update 03/07/19 - Dimensions of the filament-guide-holder were adjusted to avoid tightness on the axis. - Dimensions of the bearing-cover were also adjusted to prevent tightness on the axis. Update 03/06/19 - The ring adapter files have been updated with a larger inner diameter for better fitment. - A bearing cover has been added to the right side, although it is not functional, serving only as a cover for the bearing. Update 03/02/19 The side-filament-guide-holder was resized due to its initial small size... In addition, I have resized the Ring-Adapter. It now comes in various sizes. The base size remains the 30 mm ring, allowing users to combine different sizes for the correct spool fitment. Combining sizes: - 250 g spool with a 30 mm ring and a 10 mm ring - 1000 g spool with a 30 mm ring and a 35 mm ring - 2600/4000 g spool with a 30 mm ring and a 70 mm ring ---- After experimenting with various iterations of my own designed spool holders (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2742769) and other unpublished designs, I sought a solution to handle big spools over 2.6 kg. I've seen an impressive 8 kg spool from 3djake, which prompted me to design a spool holder capable of handling diameter measures of up to 35 cm and a width of 18 cm. The inner diameter of the 8kg spool is 36 mm, while most of my spools (300g - 4 kg) have an inner diameter of 51mm. I added a ring adapter for easier insertion. A filament guide has been included to prevent unwinding of the filament from the spool; however, it's still in the testing phase and not yet perfected. STL Files and 123d design files are available for remixing if desired. Although I'm not entirely satisfied with the design, it functions as intended. Bearings used: 6003Z, 35 mm outer diameter, 17 mm inner diameter, and 10 mm width. The spool-half is assembled using wooden dowels with a diameter of 6mm and a core axis of 12 mm diameter. Users can choose the material that suits their needs. To change the spool, simply lift up the axis with the bearings. This print is not perfect, but it's sufficient for testing my design. Please share any improvements or ideas you may have.
