Spool holder support

Spool holder support

The standard Prusa Mk3 spool holder only sits on one side and flexes under heavy spool weight, although it has never posed a problem and is simple to swap out. I still believe it needs support from the other side, particularly when using large reels, which are prone to bending. After searching online, I couldn't find a design that combined the best features of the standard holder without modification, so I came up with this two-part solution. This simple design fits the existing spool holder without any modifications and consists of two parts. The support arm is taken directly from Prusa's original spool holder, trimmed to fit on both sides, and has a detent removed for easy installation that won't slip off. A bayonet hole is added for a twist pin - a removable pin that locates into the center hole of the standard spool holder shaft and twists 90 degrees to lock into place. This spool holder support can be easily installed or removed while printing without causing any vibrations, yet it remains secure and uncomplicated. I may have over-engineered this design by using PET for both parts and adding a metal screw (#6 csk x 1.5" with locknut) through the center of the pin to ensure that nothing will ever break and damage my printer. One less thing to worry about!
