<p>Hi there!</p> <p>I recently got a free cabinet which perfectly fits my 3D Printer.<br/> It also has a compartment for mounting filament rolls. All I needed<br/> were proper mounts for the axles, which can be found in my other<br/> project:</p> <p><a href="https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2503185">https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2503185</a></p> <p>I use the bulky spool holder that came with my Anet A8 along with<br/> this spoolholder:</p> <p><a href="https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1998669">https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1998669</a></p> <p>The design is great, but needed a bigger diameter for this project,<br/> so I did a small remix.</p> <p>Beside the change of axle diameter to 10mm, I also added a little<br/> more material around the axle. The new inner axle hole made the<br/> thingy a little unstable (at least for my taste).</p> <p>Please note that I did not readd a proper thread, as it would not<br/> work well in my use case. Two spool holders are used with a 10mm nut<br/> on each side, so the spool won´t move sideways on the axle and turning<br/> the spool causes the axle to spin.</p> <p>While printing the filament is unrolling and moving the spool along<br/> with the axle and the nuts. There is no bearing required.</p> <p>Speaking of bearings: I have the feeling that bearings on a spool holder<br/> are a bad idea in any way, as they may just cause uncontrolled unrolling<br/> on fast print stops or if you intentional pull filament when loading the<br/> extruder. In the end I would add breaks to the holder :D</p> <p>This is just a simple and "clean" solution that works for me.
