Spool holder - makes reusable non reusable spools (MasterSpool)
thingiverse
This item is useful to make reusable a default spool that is not reusable. It is an alternative to a MasterSpool without using so much filament. The idea is to cut in a non-reusable spool with a metal saw near one of the two circles at the side of the spool (I suggest you to cut a little dent in order to mount again the two halves in the original position - see pictures), refill it with new filament and close it again using this item. The item is designed to be used with standard SUNLU spools which have an internal cylinder height of 60mm and an internal cylinder diameter of 72mm. The print can be done without supports but you may have a bad quality of the 8 stopper at the top of the object (see pictures). Personally, I don't care about bad quality in this case. I made the object with an infill of 0% by error (the inside is literally empty), anyway the item is good and strong enough. You can try printing the default 20% infill or maybe 100% infill for a durable version, but it should be flexible in order to be inserted in the spool.
