The goal is to prevent filament from unraveling and protect it against dust and other contaminants. This adaptable part can be used for all spools on the market. Before creating a custom part, measure the spool width from one disk to the other, taking into account that each disk's thickness should be divided by two - distance from neutral axis to neutral axis. Afterward, assemble different part widths (see exploded view). Pay attention to use the correct distances, such as 8.5mm/12mm at both ends and 14mm/7mm at the center. Once printed, remove all plastic supports around the filament guide using a cutter and wire cutters. Then, wind the filament around the spool, making sure both disks are centered by the part gutters. You can use one or two elastics (120mm*1.5mm recommended), but it depends on the torque your extruder can handle without causing printing damage. I recommend using a piece of tape to link the belt; when pulling the filament, you'll see that the force is low with this solution (ropes can also be used). Keep in mind that this holder cannot completely replace a filament guide as lateral forces applied on it are limited. This solution is a complement to your existing guide. Enjoy!
