Spool Holder for Modular Shelving Unit
thingiverse
I had created some smaller brackets to attach to the inside of the shelving unit earlier (included) but decided I would prefer the spool to sit outside due to convenience reasons. I tested with 2 clips and it seemed more than strong enough, with the frame bending before the bracket showed any noticeable effects. The cut out is designed to allow it to fit over the shelf which protrudes, but it doesn't require it to be placed over the shelf section. The brackets could also be mounted to the inside of the shelving unit for added flexibility. There is approximately 130mm space between the centre point of the PVC pipe I used (35mm OD), and there's no reason smaller diameter pipe wouldn't work just as well. I found that 3 perimeters and 30% infill made them strong enough to store 3 or 4 spools if needed. Supports will be necessary for the pegs, as I did have the supports break on one print; however, even though the peg looked a little wonky initially, once cleaned up it worked perfectly fine.
