Spool holder for Lulzbot Taz 6
thingiverse
This is an adaptation for Lulzbot Taz 6. The Lulzbot features a spool holder arm with a rectangular profile that measures 8x16 inches. I modified the existing spool bearing component by changing its center hole to a rectangle, allowing it to fit securely on the above mentioned spool holder. Additionally, I added a small U-shaped piece to hold the spool and bearing in place, preventing any sliding motion across the Lulzbot arm. The setup works exceptionally well for me. I've successfully printed with both ABS and nGen materials, and the results were impressive. The nGen version turned out even better, despite printing slower due to its material characteristics. nGen is particularly well-suited for printing spheres. However, it's essential to use supports during the printing process. Fortunately, the type of supports I used in Cura - default settings - required almost no cleanup after removal. To achieve optimal results, follow the orientation specified in the files: position the bearing with its wider part flat on the bed and the U-bar vertically when printing.
