Spool holder (for common 0,75kg spools)
thingiverse
To build this spool holder, print in ABS, XT or other drillable materials such as Colorfabb clear XT. The spools are made specifically for Colorfabb (200mm OD, 55mm thickness) but most will work. You'll need: Spool_Holder_Base printed twice Spool_Holder_Arm printed once 8 M5x20 screws with a countersunk head, but any length from 15 to 30 mm works ~25cm of rod, 6mm OD and 4mm ID, preferably made of aluminum 1 e3d Bowden coupling (http://e3d-online.com/Mechanical/Bowden/Bowden-Adaptor-1.75mm-Filament) 4 ball bearings 625ZZ 5mm drill and ideally a 5,5mm one too 6mm drill and ideally a 6,5mm one too 12mm drill and ideally a 13mm one too To assemble the base: Take both printed bases and use a 5mm or 5.5mm drill to make good holes, and also use countersink screws if applicable, and be careful not to remove any parts from the ring stuck on the Bases side. Make sure you're making a hole in the flat area, so you won't have problems afterwards! Take the rod and cut it into pieces of 47mm and 59mm lengths. Drill M5 threads in all the rods. Take the Spool_Holder_Arm and drill two holes in its pre-existing ones to widen them up a bit for the ball bearings, as printed versions might be too narrow! Use 6 or 6.5mm drills for better fitting. Now, cut out an open bore on one side of the arm with a 12mm or even a 13mm drill. You should see that the 3D print makes this step easier! Take 4 screws and place them in the Bases' holes, ensuring the heads are always pointing to the same flat direction. Insert two shorter rods into the lower screws and connect both of those onto each other through 4 additional M5 threads at the center points. Tighten every piece you're screwing for best results. You'll know when done if they snap-fit properly! Once it all clicks together then remove them so nothing sticks permanently later. Put on ball bearing set, place into one arm side & let go to have two completed arms now assemble parts properly around rods before final tightening tight enough though - don't make adjustments here yet either unless there's any wobble going down axis path
