Spool Holder for 3DTouch Printer

This product is a dual-component filament spool holder specifically designed for the Bits-From-Bytes (BFB), now part of 3D Systems, 3DTouch printer. The standard spool holders provided with the original printer are ideal for very large-diameter filament rolls (> 3 inches), but such filaments have become difficult to find nowadays. Replacing these OEM spool holders with this version ensures that your printer continues to operate smoothly, allowing you to use more compact filament spools with holes as small as 1.18 inches. The product was co-created by Bing GAN and the WOOF3D team from the University of Washington. The process of installation is quite straightforward. Printing works seamlessly on a FlashForge Creator without requiring any support materials. For better adhesion to the build platform, it's advisable to print the top component upside down and possibly with a raft. My test prints consisted of three layers, 10% infill density, and the base took around two hours to complete. Once the assembly is printed, you'll need to install a bearing into the Bottom part, either using the original part or a replacement one with an outside diameter (OD) of 7/8 inch and a thickness of 1/4 inch. Next, squeeze together the fins on the Top part before inserting it into the Bottom portion, ensuring that the snap locks are securely in place. After that, insert the bolt from the top. Finally, position the spacer provided with your original spool holder on the protruding bolt and fasten everything by tightening the bottom nut of your 3DTouch printer.
