I designed a spool holder that's incredibly easy to print, requiring no supports and minimal infill if you use enough shells. For my own prints, I used three shells with a 0.2mm layer height, printing at 60mm/s for the inner layers and slowing down to 30mm/s for the outer shell. This resulted in a print time of about one hour and twenty minutes to an hour and thirty minutes - a significant advantage when printing two parts at once. I created this design after struggling with another spool holder I found online, which insisted on using supports that just wouldn't cooperate. My new design is specifically engineered to avoid the need for supports altogether, eliminating harsh overhangs that can cause problems during printing. I also added a large flat bottom to the part, greatly increasing its adhesion to the build plate and preventing it from shifting or coming loose mid-print. I made sure to remove all sharp corners from this model, either rounding them with a radius or smoothing them out with a small chamfer of 0.5mm. This attention to detail helps ensure that every aspect of the print is smooth and hassle-free.
