Spool Holder Eliminator
thingiverse
This method simplifies handling filament spools while maintaining their condition. It prevents dust accumulation and limits moisture exposure to plastic. Externally routing the filaments to a 3D Touch printer reduces sharp bends. Instead of modifying spindles or spool holders, filament and dessicant can be kept in the original plastic bag by cutting a hole and guiding it through tubes to the extruder. Although not fully air-tight due to tiny holes in bags, this method significantly improves filament storage compared to open air exposure. The 3D Touch printer has no problem spinning spools within the plastic bag. Removing filaments involves working the spool within the bag, winding it back up and securing with tape for storage. However, the lack of a printable item is disappointing.
