I required a free-standing spool holder for my CR-10 rebuild since I'd eliminated the control box. This build necessitates x8 bearings and 16 x 6's, with two in each wheel, although you might be able to get by with one if you choose to try. It's designed specifically for Ooznest PLA Pro filament spools at 75mm centers. Many others will also fit comfortably. I utilize Ooznest because they offer recyclable cardboard spools, and we should all be using cardboard spools.
