I managed to fit the adapters by @Vilove inside the filament spools that I had (1kg with 55mm bore, and 0.5kg with 52mm bore).\r\n\r\nTo solve this issue, I designed my own clip on bearing holders with 8mm bearings which drop down inside the original shaft diameter.\r\n\r\nThis design now accommodates the smaller spool diameter as well. I also incorporated @vilove's end stop in the back of the adapter.\r\n\r\nIf you want to use this adaptation, you'll need to perform two steps that don't require 3D printing:\r\n1) Cut relief holes in the original shaft.\r\n2) Install a brass threaded set screw nut using a hot iron (soldering), which is somewhat optional. The adapter part grips the shaft really well, but I added an extra tooth to prevent rotation down. The hole for the M3 brass insert is 4mm in diameter and depth.
