Spool Holder ======== I needed a spool holder that would securely hold filament onto another spool, so I modified [Danimal_FPV's design](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:438174) to suit my needs. Here are the modifications I made: 1. I lengthened the base for added stability. 2. I added holes for screwing it down to a workbench. 3. I changed the geometry to strengthen the design. 4. I replaced the axle with a smoother cylinder. 5. I raised the top of the forks that hold the axle, making it less likely to jump out. There are spindles in various sizes available, allowing you to use spools with large holes and ensure smooth rotation. Joiners for Multiple Spool Holders --------------- A joiner is provided to link two spools in series for winding filament from one onto the other. Another joiner is also included to connect spools in parallel, ideal for a dry box or feeding printers with multiple extruders. The joiners can be attached to the spool holder bases using M4 x 16mm machine screws and nylock nuts (or their imperial equivalent). Printing -------- PLA is an excellent material to use for this project due to its slippery and durable surface, perfect for rotating bearings. However, you should avoid printing in ABS as it may cause issues with layer adhesion. I printed this spool holder quickly using a 0.8mm nozzle and 0.3mm layer height, but I encountered problems with the plastic curling about three-quarters of the way up the print. To avoid this issue, use a standard 0.4mm nozzle and not more than 0.25mm layer height. Spindles are available in various diameters from 50mm to 76mm. Print the one closest to but smaller than the hole in your filament spool.
