I've crafted a spool clip that meets your requirements! My original design was much larger, clipping onto the side of my FlashForge Finder 3D printer. However, this revised version is carefully optimized for a snug fit, with dimensions that just barely exceed those of the printer's spool holder. The spool holder itself measures 2 1/2 inches in length and features a cap that fits into the end, ensuring the spool stays securely in place without coming loose.
