I searched "spool holder" on Thingiverse, and it came up with a staggering 6,881 options, but I couldn't decide which one to like best... :o) Designing and printing a spool holder is kind of a rite of passage for many makers. However, I'm plagued by a severe lack of counter space, and I don't want to attach a spool holder to my new Kossel Delta mini. So, I decided to take a more traditional approach - using two closet shelf/rod brackets mounted above and behind the printer with a 1" PVC pipe in the rod hooks. Normally, I would secure the brackets to a couple of studs, but this location has a window, so I'm mounting them to the back of a heavy base cabinet I made from a sixty-year-old three-panel door. The brackets are 10 inches apart, with a 16-inch piece of 1" schedule 40 PVC pipe in between. It has slots cut to keep it from spinning and centered. If I were mounting the brackets on 16-inch centers, I would insert a piece of broomstick inside the pipe to prevent sagging. I only looked at about 100 spool holder designs, so this may not be an original idea. DB The rocket in the picture is my Angus 1 "FuseD Muse" model, which pays homage to my favorite 3DP channel host.
