I use it on a table above my printer, carefully positioned so it fits snugly through the guide on the back. The spool holder is designed for 2.2lb spools. I've made modifications using a 2-inch aluminum pipe section to hold the spool securely in place. Alternatively, you can simply print a 2-inch diameter pipe to fit - I'll be uploading my design soon for your convenience.
