I've tried numerous spool holders that either didn't print well or worked as described. The part dimensions were incorrect, so after hours of printing, the thing became a disappointing failure, or once assembled and the spool was installed, the spool fell off and my unattended print went catastrophically wrong. The Solution... Design and print my own design and thoroughly proof it before sharing it with others. So here you go - a spool holder designed and assembled in Solidworks prior to printing and able to handle full-sized 1kg rolls up to 95mm or 3.74" wide, since there's a wide variety of spool designs on the market from different vendors. The design is straightforward with Two vertical supports and two spool spindle pins and only one of the remaining parts all printed in ABS. The spool spindle pins are designed with slight draft angles to allow for easy assembly and spool changes. Another innovative tool for my 3d printer here at Bullseye Body, LLC. This device aids in first article proofing prior to production run injection molding. In my spare time I like to tweak designs to enable the printer to work more efficiently.
