Spool Guards

Updated: To mount your spools horizontally on top, consider using this filament guide instead of spool guards: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:9604. These OpenSCAD Parametric MakerBot Filament Spool Housings offer customizable features such as caps for spacer use, a lip at the bottom to prevent housing bending and filament slippage, adjustable thickness and enclosing degrees for easier printing, an optional slice with a hole for tidier spool changes, and varying tolerance levels. Change the logo to personalize your spool, or use it as an example for customized designs. Although still in progress, this work-in-progress offers an alternative solution for MakerBot Filament Spool Housings. To fully enclose a spool, print 3 caps at 60 degrees each and 4 guards at 30 degrees each; printing 1 guard with a hole is recommended among the MakerBot logo guards. Each slice takes about an hour to print; suggest 0 extra shells and fill at around 0.1 for optimal results.
