Spool / Filiment holder Spacer

Spool / Filiment holder Spacer

thingiverse

This spacer is designed for use between spools to ensure smooth running. Initially, I created it specifically for the two spools on thingiverse (thing:62710) but later developed versions for other types of spools to guarantee free movement. A spool from Thingiverse thing:62710 should have a LFS_Hub_External_30mm_V3.0.stl hub that matches this design. Use spool_spacer.stl to separate two Thingiverse thing:62710 spools. I use multiple copies of thing:62710, which were made with 70mm brackets to hold 100M coils from diamondage.co.nz, along with this spacer. Instructions Print vertically through the hole. Both printing with and without support resulted in successful prints. Printing without support relies on endplates being held by fragments of plastic that failed to print in mid-air. Be careful during this process, as any endplates sticking up can catch the printer head's next pass. With support enabled in Cura, it prints smoothly, and the support material is either invisible or easily removable with needle nose pliers. Photos of this spacer show a printed blue ABS version; I am still refining my settings for printing ABS, resulting in some blobs, but these parts are highly functional.
