Use M4 screws to attach to the spool. Add some cheap dollar store vinyl to the top if you want to make it pretty, or doll it up with other decorations. If you have extra plastic spools, I'm sure your local shelter, cat rescue (or facebook marketplace) will take these off your hands. I bought the Jingle balls from PetCo (oddly, they are called “Ferret balls” but they fit perfectly!) Have fun with it!
