This is a custom-made holder for 1kg Hatchbox filament spools. The internal hole measures 16.25mm in diameter, ensuring ample space for heat shrinkage and proper filament passage. Consider modifying the hole size if you're working with unique filaments. The original design features a basic bearing placement, but an alternative approach involves threading a half-inch dowel through the center of the spool. I've also included a user-configurable variant, packed with versatile parameters to cater to your specific requirements. Additionally, I added a lip that securely houses the bearing, alleviating stringent tolerances. Below are the printing and installation guidelines: Printing instructions This model can be printed flat without support materials required. Vertical printing yields stronger prongs; however, adding supports or using software-generated ones might be necessary in this configuration. Model sources I've included a clean Sketchup source file, complete with intermediate lines intact for reference purposes. An OpenSCAD source code has also been added to enable users to customize and explore various parameter options. Key parameters are presented self-explanatively. If you'd like to forego the bearing lip, simply set its width to 0mm. Otherwise, expect potential printing difficulties or required supports, unless your printer can easily handle the 1mm overhang (a 2-3 mm buffer is advisable for smooth prints).
