Spool axle for power drill winding
thingiverse
I designed a device to wind filament onto a spool using an electric drill or screwdriver. To assemble it, I attached M8 coach bolts and M8 nuts to wedges on the spool, then inserted the end of the bolt into my drill. The spool_wedge_square.stl file has a recess for the coach bolt head, while the spool_wedge_nut.stl file has a recess for an M8 nut. Alternative options include using M8 threaded rod with two nuts or an M8 bolt with a hexagonal head. Print Settings: Printer Brand: Wanhao Printer: Wanhao Duplicator i3 V2 Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.2mm Infill: 20% Notes: I printed the wedge with the square hole without supports and it worked fine. I used supports on the wedge with the hexagonal hole but haven't tried printing without them yet. I printed with PETG, but haven't tested any other materials.
