Spooky Skull Mask
thingiverse
It's Time for a Spooky Halloween Celebration. For this Build, I Utilized: -A Black Beanie -Hot Glue -Velcro (Double-Sided Fabric Adhesive is Recommended) -Black See-Through Cloth (I Used Polyester Interlock Fabric) -LEDs from a Previous Costume (Optional) If You Find a Different Way to Make Your Mask That's Better for the Circumstances, Awesome! I Was Originally Going to Use 8x8 LED Matrices to Program Moving Eyes, But the LED Matrices I Ordered Were Crushed in the Mail. Sad. Anyways, the Glowing Eyes Are Completely Optional and It Looks Fine Without Them. IMPORTANT MAKE SURE THE SIZE IS CORRECT WHEN YOU PRINT!!! I've Had Problems with My Files Scaling Incorrectly So When You Go to Print, I Recommend Scaling Both Parts by a Factor of 10 So That They Are 10 Times Larger Than What They Start As. The Nose Piece Won't Require Any Supports But the Mask Itself Will. I Recommend Printing With the Front of the Mask Facing Up for the Best Possible Print. Print Settings Printer Brand: Ultimaker Printer: Ultimaker 2 Rafts: Yes Supports: Yes Notes: I Use Rafts on Most of My Prints But You Should Be Able to Get Away with Not Using Them. Post-Printing Building After Both Parts Are Printed, Cut Out Small Squares for the Eyes and Nose Out of the Fabric and Hot Glue Around the Edges of the Eyes. It May Pay Off to Stretch the Material a Bit as You Are Gluing the Edges So That It Is a Bit Easier to See Through. For the Nose, You May Want to Leave the Nose Hole a Bit Loose So That Your Nose Has Plenty of Room and Doesn't Get Pushed Against the Edge of the Mask. Once All of the Fabric Pieces Are Glued On, Trim Around the Edges So That Loose Material Isn't in the Way. Making Sure That the Fabric Around the Nose Nicely Attached to the Mask, Glue the Nose Piece Just Above the Hole to the Nose. If It Helps, Make Markings for Where You Want the Nose Piece to Go. After the Nose Piece Is Attached Firmly, Apply the Velcro to the Mask on the Outside Edge of the Eyes, in Between the Eyes, and Between the Upper Portion of the Eyes. This is What I Found to Work Best. Next, Put on Your Beanie How You Want It with the Brim Just Above Your Eyes, and Press the Mask Against Your Head in All of the Places Where You Placed the Velcro. Your Mask Should Now Be Well Attached to Your Beanie. For the LEDs, Place Your LED Setup Just Above Your Eyes, on the Brim of the Beanie. (Please Don't Blind Yourself). Configure Your LEDs However You Want and Make Funny Faces. HAVE FUN How I Designed This AutoDesk Inventor
