Spooky Cereal Box House
thingiverse
I'm excited to conjure up the Halloween atmosphere in my cereal box domicile. The old stencils and brackets were a thing of the past; I ditched them to create a spooky lair from scratch. To attach the haunting features, press down firmly where you want the cardboard dents to form. Then, using a razor-sharp knife, carefully poke out a small x-shaped mark on that spot – it should stay in place, just like a ghostly footprint. As an optional effect, you can carve away the cardboard around the windows to add eerie depth to your haunt. The door will pop up from its printable base; some versions of my 3D design might have gotten stuck together at the top and bottom with the frame, requiring a bit of manipulation to get it open and closed smoothly. However, once you've gently worked out any rough edges and swung it open and closed a few times, your door should be able to swing fairly nicely, like a witch's creaky gate. This project was just one of many "untrashables" that I created with my talented 9-year-old daughter. Together, we take ordinary household trash and turn it into something truly amazing – using 3D printing magic to breathe new life into discarded items.
