I created Spock as a custom commission for my uncle, an avid Star Trek enthusiast. The sculpture was designed to be shared with fellow Trekkies worldwide. To reduce resin costs, I hollowed out the figure. SLA/DLP printing is highly recommended, with optimal results achieved at 50, 30, or 25 microns in Z-axis resolution. The print features a seamless body and head that are integrated into a single piece. The left arm is a separately keyed component, allowing for easy access to sanding and support areas around the fingers and armpit regions. Each part was oriented with minimal support requirements. Additionally, all parts were hollowed out to minimize material usage. I printed Spock at 30 or 25 microns, although I'm unsure of the exact resolution used. Light sanding may be necessary on the arm key area to ensure a smooth fit. A small amount of Tamiya putty can be applied to fill any gaps between the arm and body keys, creating a seamless joint with minimal negative space.
