Split flap display with housing
thingiverse
This is a remix of an excellent design of the Hakernia split flap with housing and button added. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2369832. Changes: 1. Enlarged flap size (height approximately equal to that of two credit cards stacked together, a bit wider than a single credit card). 2. Larger flaps necessitated enlargement of the flap-holding wheels as well. 3. Twenty holes were incorporated into the design for the flaps. 4. One of the wheel parts features a space for a 10 mm bearing to secure the wheel in position using an M4 screw. A 10x4x5 flanged bearing was utilized, but any suitable replacement may be necessary. For the motor (28BYJ-48), the original holder from Hakernia can be employed; however, it is recommended to remove approximately 1 mm from the rim to prevent obstruction of the wheels. The flaps were designed with numbers 1 through 20. They were printed using a single nozzle printer with the following settings: two layers (0.15 mm each) of white filament, followed by a change to black filament for the middle two layers, and then another two layers of white filament. Housing and back cover: Two versions are provided - one that was actually printed and another without holes, brackets, cable management features, etc. The housing is intended to accommodate an Arduino Nano (a remixed bracket from Thingiverse) along with a ULN2003 driver (four screw holes at the bottom of the housing), switch, and socket for a 12V 2.5/5.5 power supply. The wheel with flaps is secured in place using M4 screws, with M4 nuts positioned inside the box as depicted in the accompanying pictures. Note: It may be beneficial to enlarge the front window by 2-3 mm from the bottom, as occasionally a falling flap will bounce back and become stuck outside the box. The button was remixed and can be found here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3493891. A small Arduino code is included to randomly display a number (with a random number of steps for up to two full turns). https://youtu.be/bTTlmoX4MD8
