Split Flap Display - Weather in one Hour
thingiverse
This animated weather board shows current weather in an hour. Watch this video to see it in action: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cLFjflW2zS0 The code used here forecasts the Copenhagen, Denmark weather but can be easily modified to fit any other location. Besides standard Arduino parts, the split-flap display is mostly constructed from laser-cut plywood sheets. Here are its components: Arduino board Two Steppermotors for precise movements Two Photointerrupters (GP1A51HRJ00F) to track rotations accurately One WiFi module (esp8366) to provide internet connectivity A reliable 12v power supply unit Three plywood sheets, each measuring 600mm x 450mm x 3 mm thick Acrylic plate (15mm x 15mm x 3 mm thick) Four skate or skateboard bearings (outer diameter: 20mm, inner hole: 20mm, height: 7mm) to support moving parts Seventy-two steel rods measuring 2mm in thickness for assembly and structural reinforcement Seventy-two sheets of standard A4 paper This project was a collaborative effort as part of the Mechatronics Engineering Design course at DTU - Technical University of Denmark.
