I'm all ears! Made this awesome splicer costume for PAX East 2017 and emblazoned with Ryan Industries right on the handle! UPDATE: The newest revision is now available, packed with new features that I learned from sanding, painting, and assembling: * Mating features for easy glue-up alignment * Coarse-fit threads for effortless adjustment * Better knurling on the nut * Correctly mirrored text (oops!) Originally inspired by an image of a RIGID-brand monkey wrench - the body of which is 14 inches long! And no, splicers don't actually use wrenches... until now! Printing Don't print layers thicker than 0.2mm or you'll be in for a world of pain with sanding. On my printer, total print time can be under 21 hours and all parts fit on the bed. Avoid printing with support - I learned that the hard way, as removal of strongly adhered support material in the wrench's neck is super awkward and cosmetically unnecessary. Assembly Check out the diagram (photo #2) - the components have mating features for easy alignment when gluing! Gently sand every surface which will be glued (I use 100-grit sandpaper). Two holes are included in the wrench handle for 1/4" dowels (I used steel, but wood or plastic should work just fine). Painting Sand everything, then spray. Prime it dark - like black! I did the main body with red and some "rust"-colored highlights. Masking tape is your best friend. Leveling: Maximize your print quality by leveling first! I use my 3 square print: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1776032 Now go forth and make something amazing! Print Settings Printer: FlashForge Creator Pro Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.200 mm Infill: 40% Notes: 4 bottom solid layers 4 top solid layers 4 shells
