The caps have a hollow cylinder underneath to fit on the slider tabs, so support was used when printing these pieces.
The base, top, and eight sliders were all printed at 0.4 mm resolution with no support needed. A filament swap was done when printing the top to highlight the numbers and dividing lines.
The top was designed to provide a little bit of resistance to the sliders between number divisions, so that bumping or picking up the Element tracker would not cause the sliders to move out of position.

For assembly, the eight sliders were put into their tracks in the base, and then the top was carefully attached with superglue, making sure none of the sliders were inadvertently glued into a fixed position. The Element caps were then superglued to the tops of the slider pegs.

How I Designed This

The images for the Element caps were downloaded from spiritislandwiki.com, converted to black and white with Gimp, converted to .SVG files with Inkscape, extruded with Fusion 360, and exported as .STL files to Meshmixer. Fine details of the Element artwork were then thickened in Meshmixer so that they would print legibly.

The base, top, and slider were designed in Fusion 360 and exported as .STL files to Meshmixer.

Category: Games
