Spirit Halloween proton pack Alice pack frame spacers
thingiverse
If you need a spacer for the ALICE pack frame to be offset from the proton pack, this one is 1" and fits the 2" 6-32 screws I used. They are perfect for securing the pack in place. I installed three of these screws - two at the bottom and one near the top - to ensure a sturdy hold. Inside the pack, old cut-to-length piano hinges support the mother board (painted plastic). This adds extra strength and durability to the entire system. To create the spacer, I carefully traced the pack onto the plastic and added about 1/8" extra to get the right dimensions. The cardboard template was not accurate enough for my needs. After cutting out the plastic, I gave it a sleek black finish. Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of the piano hinges in action, but they provide more strength when installed at a 90-degree angle. Take a closer look and you'll see the screw that holds the hinge to the inside of the proton pack - I left them long so I could bend the ends down for a secure fit. You may notice I moved the shoulder strap from the top bar to the middle bar, which brought the pack higher up on our backs and made it easier to grab the wand. This simple adjustment has made a big difference in comfort and usability.
