05/20/2021 Update: I added variations on the rain shield plug to keep rain off the bearing. Both 5/16 bolt and "nub" versions are provided. 03/02/2021 Update: I added a variation on the plug. This version uses a short 5/16 inch bolt as a replacement for the printed nub that sat on the 608 bearing. There is also an updated base with space to accommodate a length of bolt extending beyond the bearing bottom. The printed nub was a potential failure point, especially if printed with too few walls or insufficient infill. The bolt removes this potential. I created some mounts for jotalamp's Wind Turbine (Vase mode) thing "spiraltest04.stl" (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2241699 ) that use a 608zz bearing. The spinner is printed with a solid surface on the build plate in a spiralized vase mode. The short plug is glued into the open cylindrical portion of the upper surface with super glue. The plug has a nub sized for the inner portion of the 608zz bearing. The two bases have an upper opening sized for the 608zz outer diameter. The hole on the base bottom is sized for either a 3/8 inch or 5/16 inch all thread rod. Weep holes are positioned to drain any water accumulation in the bearing holder. My practice is to prep the bearing before use. I remove the seals on both sides and wash the bearing in mineral spirits to remove the manufacturer's grease. Then, I lube it with light oil and replace the seals. This greatly reduces rolling resistance and allows the spinner to rotate in the lightest breezes.
