The fundamental mathematics and geometry for this design originated from a posting on the Rhino3d Grasshopper forum, where users were discussing an airport control tower building with twisting spaces along its height. I adapted this concept to create an LED table lamp, using it as a starting point for designing this part. Most of my LED light designs feature closed tops, but so far, I haven't developed a way to implement a closed top for this specific geometry. The spirals2 design will have a different overall shape and a narrower top – perhaps not even a fully enclosed one. This part printed in just under 22.5 hours using a layer height of 0.200 mm and a print speed of 100 mm/sec. This lamp accommodates either battery-operated or wall-powered "puck" LED lights.
