Spiral column
myminifactory
The spiral column takes on the form of a vine-trunk, its surface covered in ivy-shoots and leafy vines with tendrils twisted intricately around them. Atop the trunk, a small silenus's head is discernible. The Dionysiac style of this work suggests that it was once part of a larger sculptural group featuring Dionysus or served as an ornate base for a smaller sculpture or candelabra. Archaeological estimates place its creation during the Flavian era.
