Spiral Chess Set

Spiral Chess Set

I modeled my own spiral themed chess set and have just finished printing it out with stunning results - no supports were needed at all. I'm excited to share this unique piece with the world and hear your thoughts on how it could be improved. It's been a passion project for me, ever since I first got hold of my printer. My goal was clear: create something that couldn't be manufactured using any other method apart from 3D Printing. It took some trial and error, especially when figuring out the design for the Knight piece, but now that it's complete, I'm more than satisfied with the final product. I'm proud to say that this set has been a labor of love since day one - from designing the intricate details to actually bringing it all to life using my trusty 3D printer. This particular print was done on a Makerfarm 8" i3v using PLA material at 0.20mm layer height, which proved to be just the right settings for an amazing finish. What took a little longer than expected were the actual printing times - around two hours per piece due to their size. But the end result is so worth it! For those who might want a slightly smaller version, don't hesitate to scale down your prints by 75% or so. It's officially out of "work-in-progress" territory now, and any major changes I do make in the future will likely result in an updated file being uploaded for everyone to enjoy. Your input is more than welcome - if you have any suggestions or thoughts on how this design could be even better, don't hesitate to share them!
