Spiral Chess Set (Large)
pinshape
A spiral-themed chess set that can be printed without supports, offering endless possibilities for makers and enthusiasts alike. This project has been a labor of love since I first laid hands on my 3D printer, and I'm thrilled to share it with the community. The goal was clear: create something unique that could only be manufactured through 3D printing, pushing the boundaries of what's possible with this revolutionary technology. To achieve this vision, I leveraged SolidWorks to model and render each piece with precision, ensuring a seamless fusion of form and function. As a perfectionist, I sought feedback and criticism from fellow makers, eager to learn from their expertise and improve my design. The most daunting challenge was undoubtedly the Knight, but I'm delighted with how it turned out in the end. Each piece is crafted to be large enough to make an impact on the playing board, so I recommend printing them at approximately 75% scale for maximum effect. My personal setup involves a Makerfarm 8" Prusa i3v printer, running PLA filament at 0.2mm layer height – a combination that yields stunning results. The time it took to print each piece was substantial, but the end result was well worth the effort. I'm confident that this spiral-themed chess set will captivate anyone who lays eyes on it, and I hope you'll join me in enjoying this masterpiece!
