Spiral bear (Shenton Park), 2020
sketchfab
I installed a 3D model with an interactive interface within HDRI panoramic environment maps I created from real locations in Perth, where I reside near Shenton Park. The doll's perforated shape appears to be floating in this location, and the viewer can zoom inside its volume to observe the surrounding scenery. The use of custom-built equipment and 3D digital production techniques illustrates how our perceptions are constructed, while converting photographic images into halftone vector spirals represents the concept of divided brushstrokes found in Impressionist or Aboriginal art. This resonates with the repetitive tactile experience embedded in vision through experiential duration and bodily pulsation. I hope this online presentation mirrors the use of physical fluidity and interpenetrability of oil paint in my Patagraphy 2.0, where I employed these techniques to explore the relationship between visual perception and the human body's sensory experiences.
