Spiral Award Trophy

Spiral Award Trophy

thingiverse

This is a show-stopping spiral sculpture designed as the perfect trophy or award for a high-end gala event. The initial design (2) had drawbacks, namely gaps between the two components that fit together. Thankfully, later versions (4) eliminated these flaws by merging the pieces seamlessly into an impermeable whole. Post-Printing Notes Since taking the photos, I have applied a clear epoxy coating. This achieves several goals: it can impart a brilliant glossy finish and eliminate layer lines - provided you exercise caution, as this stuff can set surprisingly quickly, depending on the adhesive you choose. There's also a type of epoxy specifically formulated for 3D prints. Instructions This sculpture does not require supports; however, the bottom surface might appear slightly rough due to the printing process. To minimize potential issues, I recommend printing it with a higher infill percentage and a finer resolution setting - 14% infill and 4 shells should yield excellent results. When it comes to print size, it's essential to take advantage of your printer's maximum capabilities, scaling the model to fit its parameters. For reference, the larger sculpture depicted in the photos was printed on an extended version of a printer with an increased print volume - unfortunately, I had to interrupt the print mid-flow and change colors partway through.
