Spinster's Rock, Dartmoor
sketchfab
The ancient monument known as Spinster's Rock stands proudly near Dartmoor's eastern edge, its Neolithic roots a testament to our region's rich heritage. While dolmens remain somewhat of an enigma, historians believe that this particular one was once topped with a earthen mound, serving as a chambered tomb for the area's early inhabitants. Surrounding circles, be they timber or stone, have vanished over time, leaving behind only whispers of their existence. The name "Spinster's Rock" likely stems from a Norse legend about three spinsters who constructed this very dolmen before sunrise. Photogrammetry results are subpar: I snapped some hasty phone photos and failed to capture the top portion of the structure, as it rises an impressive 2m into the air. This experiment serves as a prime example of crafting a decent model from limited sources, all without relying on external processing.
