Spinolution bobbin for Echo (4oz) and Mach III (8oz)
thingiverse
This customized spinning wheel bobbin was specifically designed for the SpinOlution spinning wheel. The print settings are straightforward and easy to follow. Turning on supports is essential for achieving a high-quality print with minimal cleanup required afterwards. The project files included cover both 4oz and 8oz bobbins, which cater to different spinning machines. For instance, the 4oz bobbins fit all Spinolution machines featuring 4oz flyers, while the 8oz bobbins are designed for machines without the golden whorl. However, these will not work with machines that have a 9mm shaft. Both bobbin designs share the same assembly process. To complete the bobbin, you'll need to acquire an M8 washer and a length of 1/2" PEX, CPVC, or copper pipe. You can find the necessary links online. For the 4oz bobbin, the pipe should be cut to 98mm in length, whereas for the 8oz bobbin, it needs to be 144mm long. If you don't have a pipe cutter, I highly recommend investing in one as it will significantly ease the process. You can find an example of the cutter used here. After printing the relevant file (4oz_1 or 8oz_1), insert the washer into the round end and then press-fit the plumbing pipe into the top hole on the washer. Apply super glue to secure the tube in place. Once you're satisfied that the bobbin fits your spinning wheel, proceed with gluing the top piece to the tube.
