Spinning Top spool upcycling
prusaprinters

This is a spinning top using the side of an old spool to ensure a good stability.

The spinning top is locked inside the laucher until the toothed rack is completly removed. This ensures that the full length of the rack is used and maximum speed is reached!

The covers must be glued on the spool side.
These covers are not necessary, BUT, the holes on the spool side seem to create a lot of air turbulence and quickly slow down the spinning top. The use of the cover prevents turbulence and increases the rotation time from about 20 seconds to about 2 minutes.

The spinning top mains parts are the nose-side and the geared-side. The geared-side has a litle finger that goes into a litle exsiting slot on the spool and ensures the good transmission of the rotation to the spool side
The geared-side is threaded, the nose side works like a nut and pinch spool side

Happy printing and have fun with this spinning top ;)

Feel free to tip me or to follow me on Instagram if you like my work :)

Print instructions

I printed these part in PETG but should work in PLA

Spinning top parts:

-No support needed
-Layer height 0.2mm
-3 wall perimeter
-Infill grid 15%

Cover

-No support needed
-Layer height 0.1mm
