Spinning Top , Hovertop
thingiverse
This was sparked by Make_Anything's Galactop YouTube Video, an absolute must-watch. I loved the concept but had a fresh idea brewing in my mind. Make_Anything cleverly employed a turbine to set the top spinning by blowing on it through a drinking straw. Building upon this design, I added a practical application for the turbine - not only does it spin the top when blown on with a straw, but it also draws in air while spinning and directs it down under the top, creating an air cushion effect akin to a Hovercraft. This Top boasts remarkable stability and continues spinning steadily even at very low rpm! The point where it spins is a separate component; you can experiment with its length as this factor determines the height of the air cushion effect. I found 1.5 mm from the bottom to the tip of the point to be ideal, but feel free to modify it as desired since it's longer by design. To ensure the point prints well, print it slow and cool, possibly on a raft due to its small size; even at 20 mm per second, it won't take long. The body of the spinner can be printed flat on the bed without supports.
