Spinning Puzzle Box

Spinning Puzzle Box

thingiverse

This is a puzzle box that uses nails as a locking mechanism by fitting them snugly into a channel in the box. The nails can slide freely in and out of a hole, where they secure the lid when pulled back. To unlock the box, simply spin it to slide all the nails towards the outside. I prepared the nails for use by cutting four large ones down to 15mm in length, including their heads. Next, I filed the cut edges to round them slightly, making it easier to unlock the box later on. IMPORTANT: Make sure to pause your print at a critical point to insert the nails safely. Stop printing when the channel is halfway done and before it closes completely. Gently place the nails into position and restart the print carefully. Be aware that moving your print head over exposed nails could potentially damage your print or printer.
