Spinning PokeStop Ornament

My family can't get enough of Pokémon Go, so it only made sense to bring the game to our holiday celebrations. I created this PokeStop Ornament in OpenSCAD and printed it with ColorFabb PLA/PHA (Sky Blue) filament. This ornament may not dispense potions or Pokéballs, but it spins just like the real thing! If your print queue is overflowing, you're missing a specific color of filament, or the model is giving you trouble, consider ordering a print from Etsy at https://www.etsy.com/listing/481786145/3d-printed-spinning-pokestop-ornament. I had a blast putting this ornament together, and I hope you enjoy it! Edit: Someone requested smoother cylinders, so there's now an updated STL file named PokeStopIncreasedNumberOfFaces.stl that gives the outside edges a more refined look. This version hasn't been personally tested by me yet, though. Print Settings: Printer Brand: MakerGear Printer: M2 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.25 Infill: 30% Notes: Since this ornament spins, you'll want the bottom to match the top's quality. Take your time with that first layer – it's worth getting it just right. If you have to adjust your first layer speed, I've found that slowing down a bit is better than speeding up. You'll notice small 1mm thick placeholders outside the moving parts to keep them in place. You might want to slow down your first layer speed to help with those tiny details – mine was about 24mm/sec. If you see those little placeholders fusing into the circles on the first layer, don't panic. Just watch it for a bit and see if subsequent layers create a gap. If they do, you can easily free the pieces with your fingernail when the print is done. How I Designed This: OpenSCAD This ornament was designed in OpenSCAD, taking advantage of bridging. The design features an 8-sided cylinder that's rotated to encourage bridging and ensure we're using 45% overhangs. My clearances are all set at 0.75mm, which makes it super easy for the ornament to spin and prevents fusing on the first layers.
