
Spinning Blade

A physically interactive toy. Inspired by Lego Ninjago Airjitzu toys and Beyblade, all trademarks belong to their respective owners. The spinning top consists of four parts. The axis with the gear is compatible with the Lego Ninjago Airjitzu toys. The disk features two identical halves that allow you to insert up to six coins for more momentum - five Euro-cent coins work well. The bottom cone fits tightly on the axis, but can also be screwed on with a M3x30 screw or glued in place. Warning: Be cautious near valuable furniture if you insert coins into the spinning top. The launcher consists of a box with handle and lid, along with the starter strip. As an arena, we used a large pot lid turned upside down and placed on a bowl for stability. With standard printing speed, the teeth were cut off, but at half the normal speed they turned out nicely. For the starter strip, reduce shell thickness to 0.4 mm (one nozzle size). For all other pieces, 0.8 mm is sufficient. The launcher box prints easily, but if the axis doesn't turn smoothly in the hole, try using a file to widen it slightly or adjust the parameter "gearHoleR" in the "spinning_top.scad" file. Different printers and materials can significantly affect sizes, so be aware of these factors. (I used PLA.)
