Spinner Knob for Rotary Encoder
thingiverse
Watch this video to see a one-layer high-resolution macro printing operation of a 3D printed spinner knob for rotary encoder jog/shuttle control: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P98S2NxbNbM. The knob was created using MakerBot CupCake #1024, also known as MiseryBot. For compatibility, use Digi-Key 987-1195-ND rotary encoder (TT Electronics/BI EN12-HS22AF20). However, be aware that the STL file is high-resolution and large in size. You might need to re-save the STL file at a more coarse resolution using OpenScad. Simply change the "$fs=0.25;" line to a larger number, then hit "F6" and save the STL again. If you're interested in smoothing the part, try dipping it in acetone. A picture of the result is attached.
