Spindle Spool Hub holder SCAD
thingiverse
This is a versatile Spindle Holder inspired by the innovative Spool Holder-Lulzbot Mini designed by cbc in terms of its sleek three-winged shape. The first iteration, housed in Spindle_Hub_v2.scad, boasts a parametric design that caters to a 52 mm hub, featuring a 5mm lip and accommodating a 12mm axis. However, users have the flexibility to modify these parameters at their discretion within OpenSCAD. To ensure a snug fit, I've incorporated external slits on the hub, while inner slits are strategically placed inside the axis for seamless compatibility with axes that feature grooves. The second iteration, found in steppedSpindle.scad, showcases a sophisticated stepped design comprising two distinct parts - male and female - that securely screw together to firmly grasp the spool. To achieve this complexity, I leveraged the resourceful Triangles.scad module from http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:220868 and the Screw Library found at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:8793. **Overview and Background** I required a customizable Spindle Holder with a 12mm axis to meet my specific needs. **Lesson Plan and Activity** Using SCAD's powerful parametric design capabilities, I crafted this versatile Spindle Holder.
