Spindle for Voxel Factory filament spool
thingiverse
Create a spool holder for your MakerBot Cupcake with Voxel Factory 3mm ABS filament. Assemble the printed spindle, guard, and parts from the MakerBot Filament Spindle MK1 kit along with an added turntable. Secure the parts to the side of your printer using M3 bolts and nuts. Slice and print the pieces using ReplicatorG 37 and Skeinforge 35, without a raft but with additional shells and infill. The OpenSCAD script can be used for creating the parts by measuring with calipers. If your Cupcake isn't upgraded with a Z-axis, you may need to split the spindle piece in Netfabb and use superglue. Assemble the turntable onto the left side of the Cupcake, then attach the printed spindle to a wooden flange, drilling new holes if necessary. Finally, bolt the flange to the turntable and secure the filament spool on the spindle using the guard piece. If needed, add a filament guide to protect your Z belt when feeding into the extruder.
