Spin Box Puzzle

Spin Box Puzzle

thingiverse

This design features a unique 3D-printed puzzle box that opens exclusively after being spun counter-clockwise. In contrast to the original box, which opens upon spinning in either direction, this innovative version requires eight 6mm balls or bearings for its mechanism. These can be airsoft BBs purchased at Walmart or even self-printed 6mm balls (though untested). The full box print includes a lid and main box, with single lock versions available to test the sizing first. No support is needed during printing, as only small bridges, 45-degree angle extensions are involved, typically not requiring support. Impress your friends by demonstrating this tricky box that won't open when spun clockwise, leaving them puzzled and intrigued! A tested and proven design, a video of the opening mechanism can be viewed here: http://youtu.be/nhxeBcmDFvA. For instructions, print the lid and main box (or both if your printer is big enough), insert a 6mm ball in each lock, spin counter-clockwise to align them, place the lid, then shake it. It won't open until spun counter-clockwise again. The creator recommends an updated design available here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:763835 for better functionality with the box turning upside down.
