A buddy requested a repaint on a messed-up Spider-man 2099 Bobble-head, so I stepped up and gave it my best shot. As a huge fan of Spidey 2099, I felt like this was the ultimate challenge to showcase my painting skills. I started by getting the basic shape of the mask and chest with templates, but then it became a labor of love that was 90% hand-painted masterwork. Edit: January 14, 2016 It's done! And I'm incredibly pleased with how this project turned out – truly epic. Printer Settings: I utilized the XYZ Da Vinci 1.0 to bring this artwork to life. - No rafts needed for any part of this print. - Not a single support required – thanks to perfect printing technique. - The resolution varied from 0.1 to 0.3, depending on each individual component. - Infills went from 20% to 90% – each layer was strategically placed to create the perfect blend of style and function. Project Notes: I made a conscious decision to print the webcape with extremely thin layers at 0.1 mm and 90% infill, making it as flexible as possible while still maintaining its structural integrity. The material of choice was Hatchbox Glow-in-the-Dark ABS – a real game-changer in the world of additive manufacturing. On the other hand, the arm spikes and remaining components were printed at 0.3 mm layers with only 20% infill – an unconventional yet deliberate move to achieve a striking balance between durability and aesthetic appeal. Post-Printing: Two arm spikes, attached to a flat base that initially seemed like a great plan but proved too big, had to be reworked into perfecting the design. I took out the base and secured the spikes to the arms, where they currently stand – a testament to my innovative thinking under pressure! Designing This Marvel Every component of this masterwork was designed with precision using Solid Works, fueled by creative energy inspired by the images used above (acknowledging their intellectual property ownership).
